On March 7, 2024, the office was buzzing with excitement and anticipation as employees gathered to celebrate International Women’s Day. The atmosphere was charged with energy as everyone eagerly awaited the commencement of the event.
The celebration kicked off with a heartfelt speech from Mrs Sukhneet Kaur. She stressed the importance of the women in our lives who have helped shape us into who we are and discussed the invaluable contributions of women in the workplace. She also asked everyone to share about the most influential women in their lives, be it their mothers, sisters, girlfriends or even a close friend, someone who impacted them profoundly and has shaped their view on how strong women can be.
The highlight of the event was the words we got to hear from two of the senior-most women at AKAL who have been here since the beginning, Mrs Seema Joshi and Mrs Anju Butta. These incredible women shared their personal stories, triumphs, and challenges, inspiring the audience with their resilience and determination. They talked about the belonging they feel at AKAL and how the team here has become their second family. They also spoke about the challenges they faced as working women who had to be away from their families and the incredible women in their lives who have helped and supported them in their professional journey.
The event also featured a fun pop quiz to test everyone’s knowledge of the influential women in our country who are trailblazers in their fields. It was a men vs. women affair where both teams were tested on their knowledge about the numerous achievements of women in our country.
The Women’s Day celebration at the AKAL office was a remarkable event and left a lasting impression on everyone who attended. As the festivities came to a close, there was a palpable sense of camaraderie and empowerment lingering in the air. The event brought together women and men from all walks of life to celebrate the achievements of women and to champion gender equality.
