Introducing a Digital Approach: AKAL’s work with the Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology

Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology

The Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT) is pivotal in evolving and standardising technical terminology in Hindi and various Indian languages. However, the absence of a robust digital presence hindered this process. Recognising this challenge, we were approached to develop a comprehensive website and Content Management System (CMS) for CSTT. Here is how it went.

The Client – Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT)

CSTT, established in 1961, operates under the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India. With collaborations from state governments, universities, and other academic institutions, CSTT aims to ensure uniformity and accessibility of technical terminology in Hindi and Indian languages.

Project Overview

AKAL was approached by CSTT to address the lack of an efficient digital platform for disseminating its standardised terminology and reference materials. The goal was to create a user-friendly website and CMS that would facilitate the easy access and dissemination of technical glossaries, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and other resources developed by CSTT.

Our Solutions

AKAL embarked on developing a robust website and CMS tailored to CSTT’s specific requirements. The website was designed to be intuitive and accessible, catering to a diverse audience, including students, teachers, scholars, scientists, and government officials.

Key features included:

  • User-Friendly Interface: The website offers a clean and intuitive interface for easy navigation through CSTT’s vast repository.
  • Search Functionality: An integrated powerful search enables users to quickly find specific terms or resources.
  • Content Management System (CMS): Custom CMS allows CSTT administrators to efficiently update content, ensuring the latest resources are available.
  • Feedback Mechanism: Incorporated a feedback system for users to provide input, facilitating updates and improvements to CSTT’s resources.

The Impact

With enhanced accessibility and user engagement, CSTT saw a surge in the uptake of its resources by students, educators, researchers, and government officials. The feedback mechanism facilitated continuous improvement and ensured the relevance and accuracy of the terminology provided by CSTT.

The Conclusion

Through collaboration with AKAL, CSTT successfully transformed its digital presence, paving the way for more effective dissemination of standardised technical terminology and reference materials.
